We can now add more fractions to our numberline- this includes 1/3 and 5/6
This was our challenge today, how many cookies is 5/6?
Welcome to the Maths blog for 2017. Our teacher is Mrs Madden. We are looking forward to working together and learning new mathematical concepts and accelerate our learning. Check our blog regularly to see what we have been up to. We would love to read your comments.

Group Tahi
Using a numberline to order our fractions.
We can match our fractions with a set of 12 cookies in the correct order.
We now know 1/12 is the smallest fraction and 1/2 is always in the middle. Lots of discussions to match the fractions with a batch of cookies.

Special interest
Working as a team we needed to use four 4's and any operation to make the numbers 0 - 20...
We could easily make 16
4+ 4+4+4 = 16
Other numbers were more difficult and we learnt the importance of BODMAS - the order of operations as well as the square root of numbers.
